Different ways of moving back

Yes their are two different ways of moving back , which is a common mistake in badminton for some reason.

The two types are chaseeing and walking back.

So when do you use which one?

Well the majority of times when you do a good net shot , you stay with your front foot on the service line , either getting ready to kill the net shot back , or if they lift run back and play your shot, most likeley if it is a very good net shot , another smash to win the point!

If you do a bad net , then go back to the middle with your racket foot in front , this is because if they lift it you can get it , and a drop you can get it. If you stod at the front , then you wouldn't have enough time to get to the back.

If you lift the shot then , you walk back in timing with your opponents shot , so this varies ,it might be quickly for a flater lift or a slow walk for a really high lift. You need to asdjudt the timing so by the time you reach the middle , they are about to hit the shuttle - which is when you split.

So I hope this helps , because I have seen so many people whilst playing badminton doing this wrong. This is for singles!

Change the pace you smash-aholics

Hi,

This is a post for all you smash-a-holics!

When playing doubles don't always smash , you have to change the pace of the game , their are many types of smashing when playing badminton :

Jump Smash
Full powered smash
Half Smash
Fast drop/ stick smash
Sliche smash

You can change the pace of the game by using different smashes , and by using drops aswell.

This will save energy and win points quicker.

Because if your opponent knows your going to smash , their either going to keep defneding right to the back gallery , until you either tire of smashing , or hit a shot out of the court on into the net. Badminton is a clever game their are other ways to win doubles other than just smashing.

Good luck! And I hope you get better at badminton

The Latest Nano ... blah blah!

Ok we have all been tempted to by the latest most expensive racket. The one which you think will make you have a dream smash or make your game ten times better! The one that has technological advancements that you can't pronounce. The one that has so much technology related to badminton , but you have no clue what it does!

Yes don't be embarrased we have all been there!

Well you shouldn't care!

Don't go and spend hundreds of pounds when you can get your perfect racket for much cheaper.

Most people will buy the latest racket and think this will help them play badminotn better , but it won't! Most of the time cheaper rackets will be much better , and also leaving you with money to enjoy with!

This also stops the grief after breaking your racket , with a really expensive racket - you think , no! I have lost that racket!
With a cheap but amazing racket - you will probably think , no problem I'll get another one!

So , just don't care about the latest technology!

The latest racket design which reduces air resistance by 3%! So you pay hundreds of pounds more for?

No , so what can you spend the money on to improve your badminton game?

Strings are more important for your badminton game with the traditional rule for tension being , higher tension , less power more accuracy , lower tension , more power , less accuracy. But just choose the right tension FOR YOU , not the 35 lbs , which the best players have .

A good coach. Get a good coach , not a cheepy coach which knows nothing about badminton , not an expensive coach which charges way too much , a good coach for a reasonable price! this will help your game much mroe than the latest badminton racket.

Good shoes - yes don't buy the latest racket when you don't have shoes which have grip :D.
Get a good fitting pair of shoes , as these are important in your game.

So good luck , and good luck with your badminton game!

Ebay rackets

Have you ever been on ebay , and you saw the latest yonex badminton racket for 10% of the price!

Wow , should you buy it!

NO!

Yes it may be the latest with technology , but they are all fakes!

The only thing real about them is the paint - which is exactly the same as the real ones , which is why these rackets are so intrigueing!

These rackets could damage/ hurt someone. You don't know what these rackets are made of! So watch out.
Fitness ... Fitness ... Fitness ... !

This will develop you badminton game tremendously!

You play badminton with your feet.

Imagine yourself as a car , your engine does all the work , the paint job is just the finesse.
The faster , and better footwork you have the better you will get.

Buy having better footwork , you can get behind the shuttle and on balance to give a better more powerfuller and controlled shot.

Having better footwork will slightly help you , use less energy as chaseeing iuses less energy than running everywhere on court!

So Fitness - My main point!

You can train ofcourt , try and get fitter.

this can be through just doing some light jogs or cycling!

Don't drive to work , go for a cycle , or a light jog - this will increase you fitness and your leg muscles.

No?

What about only once a week?

It is for the best for your badminton game!

You can train at home aswell

Yes you can train at home.

You can :

Do press ups - this will help in smashing for badminton.

Do Sit-ups : This will help with your core strenght , and will help your overall game and help jumpsmashing.
And with your lady attrafcter - 6 pack.

Weights : Wrist curls will develop your game , they will strengthen your biceps - developing both your smashes and jumpsmashes.

Hope this helps!

Training while playing mactches :O

Yes , you can develop your badminton skills while simply playing matches.

Just get a training racket , which will be approximateley 140 grams.

Or you could use a squash racket.

The training racket will develop yor wrist strength , a key part in badminton.

Good luck :-)
