Yonex - "The Technical Stuff"

O.k So I'll attempt to give you my explanation and the companies explanation for each technological thing they have put into each racket.

The first badminton racket technology is :
Cup Stack Carbon Nanotubes

Yonex's definition:

Increased durability and improved flexibility allow the frame to return back to its original shape faster. Positioned at the sides of the racquet it improves the frame's elasticity holding the shuttle on the string bed for enhanced control at the point of impact.

My definiton : Personally I just believe that it is increased flexibility.

The next badminton racket technology is :
Super HMG

Yonex's definiton:

Integrated into the outside of the frame the Super High Modulus Graphite produces immense power. The combined benefits of CS Carbon Nanotube and Super HMG technologies on the side of the frame allow a hard shot to be controlled.

My definition :

This is just something different on the sides of the rackets for increased weight.

The next badminton racket technology is :
Ultra PEF

Yonex's Definition:

The Ultra Poly Ethylene Fibres positioned in the shaft are light enough to float on water yet are able to with stand immense weights. These characteristics allow for maximum shock absorption.

My definiton : The Ultra Poly Ethylene Fibres are positioned within the shaft reducing the shock when hitting the shuttlecock. (Yonex's definition sounded good didn't it?)

The next badminton racket technology is :
New Frame Shape

Yonex's definition:

The new thinner frame reduces unwanted air resistance found in conventional racquets, helping players to smash with greater speed and force.

My definition: A different frame , it is thinner and thus reduces the air resistance because its surface area is less - Yonex claims that it reduces air resistance by 3%

The next badminton racket technology:

New Built T-Joint

Yonex's definition:

The new lightweight Built-in T-Joint is made from an epoxy resin material that enhances your level of performance by increasing the stability of the shuttle on the string bed and through the air.

My definition: The T-Joint is built in!

The next badminton racket technology is :

New Control Support Cap

Yonex's definiton:

The 'Control Support Cap' has been made even thinner to further reduce friction through the air, while still providing precise racquet control allowing maximum manoeuverability.

My definition : Smaller Control Support Cap - thus reducing air resistance - meaning a faster shot resulting in more power.

The next badminton racket technology is :

Isometric Square Head Shape

Yonex's definition :

Developed by Yonex, the Isometric Square Head Shape provides a 32% larger effective hitting area than a conventional racquet.

Unlike an ordinary racquet, whose main and cross strings vary in length, the Isometric Square Head Shape equalises the length of main and cross strings in the string bed and enlarges the 'sweet spot' for more consistent shot accuracy - even on off-centre hits.

My definition : An Isometric head shape enlarges the sweetspot - The sweetspot is the spot where the shuttle will be hit most effective there.

The next badminton racket technology is :

The ney grommet system

Yonex's definition : The new Yonex single-pass grommet hole construction provides more grommet holes at the 2 & 10
o’clock position on the frame, creating a high performance stringing pattern that increases durability by 7%.

My definition : The changed grommet system increases the strings durability.

The next badminton racket technology is :

Light Feel Carbon

Yonex's definition:

Super-light elastic particles have been fused with the regular carbon fibres to create 'Light Feel Carbon'.

This is then combined with the Cup Stack Carbon Nanotubes to deliver more control and power from the higher flexing sides of the frame.

My definition:

Lighter feel , more flexibility from the racket.

The next badminton racket technology is:

The Soft Leather Grip

Yonex's definition :

The player's actions are quickly and accurately transferred to the racquet through the Soft Leather Grip that provides an ideal fit to the player's hand.

My definition :

A grip which adjusts to suit your hand.

The next badminton racket technology is:

Nanoscale technology

Yonex's definition : Nanoscale technology for increased repulsion power and speed

Traditional racquet constructions increase the thickness of graphite or carbon layers for high strength, which adds weight to the frame and makes a racquet difficult to manoeuvre.

The Yonex nanoscale engineering process allows sensitive control over how the racquet materials function at the molecular level by utilising the Carbon Compound Fullerene.

The Nanoscale process establishes a high-performance molecular bond of the materials and creates a stable, thinner and stronger head light racquet that delivers maximum power and speed.

and also this

R&D testing demonstrates that by nano-powering the frame the YONEX Nanospeed Series provides 30% more impact resistance than an ordinary racquet, 10% more durability and 5% more repulsion power.

My definition : Yonex claims that each atom is engineered individually and that the Nanospeed series contains fullerene molecules. (Fullerene molecules are a compound of 60 carbon atoms). Yonex claim that this Nanoscale Technology is 30% more impact resistance , 10% more durable and it gives you 5% more pwoer. Also the 'Nano carbon is placed on the 6 o clock on the racket to give the racket extra feel and increase the head light effect of the racket.Yonex also claims that they have changed the frame so that the nanospeed series gets increased power.

The next badminton racket technology is :

Elastic Ti

Yonex's definition :

Nanoscale Elastic Ti delivers high elasticity and high strength within the same racquet frame. Moulded into both sides of the frame, the Elastic Ti provides a powerful rebound effect which after impact allows the frame to ‘snap-back’ to its original shape launching the shuttlecock down court with increased accuracy and immense power.

My definition :

The Elastic Ti allows the racket to increase power , due to the increase elastictcy. The rebound effect as stated above.

The next badminton racket technology:

Is Solid Feel Core

Yonex's definition:

Solid Feel Core for enhanced comfort

The shock absorbing compound loaded into the frame reduces uncomfortable vibration, whilst the remaining solid feel allows precise control.

My definition:

This technology reduces vibration in the racket

The next badminton racket technology is :

Muscle Power:

Yonex's definition:

1. The close contact of the frame and string allows full energy transfer.

2. Reduced contact between frame and string results in a loss of power at impact.

My definition: the number 2 in yonex's definition explains the frame and strings in there conventioanl rackets. Yonex's muscle power - explains that the strings and the frame are clsoer than usual therefore increasing the energy transfer.

The next badminton racket technology :

LSC System.

Yonex's definition : The Low Shock for Comfort system minimizes impact shock through the inherent shock-absorbing properties of Elastomer. Arm comfort is raised and shock impact is reduced by 15 percent.

My definition : The vibration is reduced .

The next badminton racket technology :

Power Armor System.

Yonex's definition :

The Armotec rackets secret is gForce Ti, an advanced hybrid material developed by Yonex to enhance rackets performance. As a result armortec rackets generate 4 percent more speed, better stability and provide a robust feel on impact.

My definition :

The racket has differernt material , so it generates more speed.

The next badminton racket technology is :

Ultimum Ti:

Yonex's definition:

A powerful nickel-titanium alloy developed by Yonex and positioned within the racquet’s shaft. Shafts containing Ultimum Ti snap back with super high repulsion, transferring maximum energy back into the shuttlecock on impact.

My definiton : increased repulsion .

The last racket technology is :

Delta power frame :

Yonex's definition :

The new Yonex Delta Power Frame creates a stable and solid hitting surface without sacrificing power. The Aerodynamic Shape minimises air resistance, accelerating head speed and transferring more speed and power into shots. The Box Shape provides solid feel and face stability.

My definition: An aerodynamic shape which minimises air resistance therefore increasing head speed.

Well finally , thats it!

All the technologies - if you believe it!

Hope this explains everything , and now when you see a racket , you will understand the technology!

Yonex - "The technical stuff"

Yonex - "The Technical Stuff"

O.k so I reviewed most of yonex's racket series - and most of the rackets in them.
And I would tell you what technical stuff was in the racket - I myself only had a brief idea , so i researched into them and found some answers.

The following is all the technical capabilities for a racket :

Cup Stack Carbon Nanotubes
Super HMG
Ultra PEF
New Frame Shape
New Bulit In T-Joint
New Control Support Cap
Isometric Sqaure Head Shape
New Grommet System
Light Feel Carbon
Soft Leather Grip
Nanoscale Technology
Elastic Ti
Solid Feel Core
Muscle Power
LSC System
Power Armor System
(Only for Armortec Rackets) Control Support Cap
Ultimum Ti
Delta Power Frame

This is all the technology that Yonex has given a name to. Obviously rackets can't have all the technologies , i.e a racket can't have the (old) Control Support Cap and the New Control Support Cap. Also some technology stays in one series , i.e Muscle Power Stays in the Muscle Power racket Series.

In My next post I'll explain this all!

New Victor stuff

Hi people , I've just heard that Victor have released there 09 catalogue.

I thought I would share my views on it - since I like Victor's rackets.

Theres not much change , theres more rackets in the Total Inide Wave series :

The Total Inside Wave 6500
and The Total Inside Wave 4800

Theres a new racket series called : Strut XT - which hopefully will be good.

And also Victor have discontinued some of there rackets like the Victor Ripple Power 11. Sadly I own the Ripple Power 11 - which is a shame they are discontinuing it.

Victor is also discontinuing th Dual Pipe Series - which was quite a shock to me , since they are very good rackets.

Hopefully I can have a look at the rackets a bit later in more detail.

Also , I contacted Yonex to get there catalogue - but unfortunately I got there old 08 catalogue , I thought there new catalogue might have a few interesting things for this year. ( I can't believe its february already)
